Asked to fill in forms 1yr before award finishes

Sister has received DLA renewal forms. The covering letter says they want to make sure she is getting the right amount. Her current award is due for renewal middle of next year. Is this the new practice? I assumed the renewal pack goes out few months before expiry date
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

Well it will give both of you the time to fully consider her current needs and gather up any medical back up. So take your time, read up on the current DLA descriptors listed for 2012 as there have I think been some updates, so worth checking. And see if she may need more care/help etc.0

Firstly - make very sure it's for next year, not this year!
Perhaps a phonecall too to check the date.
Unless her condition has worsened - there is little reason to send in these forms promptly - as this risks her award ending early, and you having to appeal.
Spending the time preparing evidence - perhaps even keeping the GP up to speed on her condition with a few visits, and researching the criteria are all a good idea.
Diaries, ...
Closer to the time, it's a good idea to find out what the actual delay in decisionmaking is, and then submit the appeal a month earlier at least, to avoid a gap.
If she has a motability car, or can't live without the DLA for a short period - maybe even two months earlier.0 -
- did the postcode on the form show as a Blackpool postcode?
- are the forms to be returned to 'Green Command' ?Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
