I have a Panasonic Freeview TX L32 C3B TV which has one scart socket marked AV1 & 2 hdmi sockets. My humax 9300T has 2 scarts and 1 hdmi, my Chili dvd recorder 8500x has 2 scarts and various red white yellow imputs (as do the other two).

I would appreciate any advice as to how to connect them together so that I can use the pvr and dvd recorder to record programmes

Thanks for that. Unfortunately means that I will have to use a Scart Switcher. I was hoping I could use the hdmi instead.

    Eh? I don't think so!
What's wrong with connecting the Humax to the TV via HDMI, and the DVD player to the TV via SCART? Then IF your DVD recorder doesn't have a tuner, you can connect AV1 SCART of the Humax to AV2 SCART of the DVD recorder and record from it. Am I missing something?

The above works fine but I am unable to load any channels onto the dvd recorder. I just twigged that it is probably because the DVD recorder is analogue and we are switched off in this area. Would a set top box solve that problem and how would I connect everything?

Aha! OK so the analogue tuner in your DVD is now useless. This has nothing to do with HDMI or SCART, but the aerial connection. You can now remove the aerial lead(s) from the DVD as they're just cluttering the place up!
You have a Humax 9300T - you record stuff on it, then if you want to keep the stuff, you can record FROM it TO the DVD over the SCART connection I described above.
I take it the Humax can record 2 things at the same time - are you trying to record a 3rd programme on the DVD? If so, DON'T just get a set top box to connect to it, DO find a DVD recorder with a Freeview tuner.

Thanks for that. The Humax can record 2 things at the same time and recording on the humax and copying it onto the dvd recorder would be just fine. (When I work our how to do it). The AV1 and AV2 is confusing me a bit. The Humax has two scarts marked 'tv scart' and 'vcr scart'. The dvd recorder has 2 scarts marked 'Scart out/tv' and 'scart in/decoder' . Which scarts do I connect to which?

Connect VCR Scart from the PVR to Scart In on the DVD recorder.
Play programme on PVR, record onto DVD

Connect Scart Out from DVD to AV2 on TV and select AV2 for monitoring what you're recording and for playing back DVD

Connect HDMI between PVR and TV, select this HDMI input to watch live or recorded progs from the PVR

All of what googler says is correct, so if you get that working, go for it. I'll add one more thing to try if you're feeling brave. The TV SCART output on the Humax MAY be better quality than the VCR SCART. Go into the menu of the Humax and see if there's a setting for RGB or PAL or Composite in the display settings, SCART settings or TV settings or similar. IF you can have RGB on the TV SCART, you should use it.
