Home Learning College course...

I've been doing a COMPTIA A+ course through the Home Learning College for 2 years. There have been several staff/manager changes in the past year. My tuition support (which I have never really used) it would cost £260 to renew it for it for another year.
It doesn't seem worth it to me so I thought I might be better off letting it expire buy my own revision books and book my own exams.
Has anyone had any experience on doing this? I intend to finish this course, but my interests have gone elsewhere in the meantime.
