Why spend money that you do not have?
Pretend until the first pay day that you are still unemployed.

I'm guessing the problem is that Jobseekers Allowance stops as soon as you get a job, but generally jobs don't pay you until the end of the month which in some cases can lead to people having a month with no income.

OP - credit card it is, and pay it off as soon as possible.

So why not just cut out the middle man and use the overdraft money directly? Unless the credit card has some kind of reward/cashback scheme, I don't see the benefit to your plan

Go back to MSE school. Using the overdraft money directly means paying interest from the moment the money is drawn. Using the credit card and paying the full balance off a week after the monthly payment date also has the same effect. Using the credit card and paying off the full balance with the overdraft on the monthly payment date means getting the benefit of the credit card's monthly interest fee period and only paying the interest for one week.
