Panda Inn at Wolong Panda Reserve, China - has ANYONE been there?

I have planned the trip of a lifetime, and I'm off to China in August to work at Wolong Panda Reserve, in China. However, I am getting so many conflicting reports of the food arrangements there - I've booked through an American company to volunteer at the reserve, and they are great, brilliant reviews, etc, but I'm getting so many conflicting reports of the meals at the Panda Inn - about 3 people who have gone to Wolong say that there is no restaurant at the Panda Inn, and that you are expected to eat from the street vendors in Wolong. The tour company assure me that there is a restaurant. A Trip Advisor review says that there's a restaurant, but I'm becoming a bit concerned about this. Does anyone know of anyone who has been to this hotel, who can advise me of the eating arrangements! I know it sounds a bit silly, but I'm spending time in China before and after the trip, and I've dreamed about this for years, but I'm getting such conflicting information I'd welcome anyone's experiences!

I come back from China at the beginning of September, so I can tell you what the reserve was like! Who are you going with, and what parts of China are you visiting?

I would imagine that the restaurant has been open and closed at different times, hence the conflicting reviews. But in any case, it is easy to find good and cheap food anywhere in China, so this is not something to worry about.

pretty sure it was me Alison, have you just returned from travelling?

Apparently the road is even more chaotic at the moment, but there are now two "stop" places but i've still been warned not to drink too much before the journey!

I'll pm you later this evening - thanks.

I'm not back until 4th, finallydebtfree, otherwise I could have told you all about it! I've looked into that Travelsphere holiday you're going on, the panda reserve is an add on - believe me, I can tell you every company in the world who goes to the reserve, as I've been researching and planning this trip for about a year! Have you been to China before - I have and it was amazing! I'm having 3 days on my own in Beijing before I meet up with the company to go to Wolong, I am fascinated by the Forbidden City, and want to spend a day there, just seeing what I've read about for years!
  • no never been before, thats probably why it rings a bell if its an add on!

booked the trip last june for my aunties 50th, cant believe its less than 6 months until I go now!

will have to compare trips when we get back!
finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!
