Know how required for my idea please

Hi I am just after some know how really if anyone has any as I have an idea; I would like to set up a website shop selling various crafts and local produce made from local individuals and crafters. One of the purposes is to help people sell their items as a lot of crafters I know cant supply in bulk as they cant make things fast enough and their mostly one off items anyway. Also to help people network and to have this shop as a sideline to my main website which is holistic and spiritual based.
Im not out to make a lot of money for myself (if any at all as I currently am non profit) but to help others. However if I could make a small income from it that would be a bonus, even if it was to cover such website, P&P and other conected overheads.
My problem is where do I start and how do I aproach local crafters and what do I say??? How do I put it all together in 1 place and keep track of whos ordered or sold what??
Perhaps its more effort than its worth but I thought someone may be able to put it in simple setup format and put it into perspective.
By the way I am not a crafty type person myself but have got to know quite a few these past years!

Thanks in advance. :)

Just wondering whether setting up a Facebook account would be a starting point?
  • There are a couple of websites for craft and hand made items and supplies : Folksy is from UK and Etsy is American. I've put stuff on Folksy but not sold anything yet. You pay 20p to list each item for 6 months, I think.
Gumtree is a website that you can advertise anything on for free but not sell from that you can search by locality. This may be more like what you are thinking of. You'd need to advertise locally for people to join your venture. You need to decide whether you want to sell from it as that would add a lot of admin. Also, who will maintain the items? With Folksy you have your own shop that you can customise and maintain.
Have a look at them, it may help you decide what if anything to do.
    Good luck!

Ask the crafters who frequently post on this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3862215 if they think its a good idea.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
