Oven fan keeps stopping :/

A few months ago, my oven fan stopped going round. Thanks to some advice on here, I turned the electricity off, poked it and whizzed it round a few times manually with a wooden stick, and it worked again (it had got gunged up and stuck). Over the space of a couple of months, it worked but made an awful screeching noise at times (if I hit it, it stopped making the noise for a few minutes). Perhaps that was a stupid way to continue, as now it seems to have stopped working altogether. :(

Just now I had another poke at it, then turned it on, at first it started going round, but within a couple of minutes it had stopped. The fan isn't stuck now, it whizzes round freely when pushed with a stick, but when I try to use the oven, the fan doesn't move.

Any bright ideas? Would like to resolve this as cheaply as reasonable possible, as I'm moving in 3 months....

My fan oven has the option of using as a "normal" oven. ie fan switched off. Just means stuff takes a bit longer to cook.

Pity mine doesn't have that option :( We did try just running it without the fan, but although it seemed to get hot, it didn't cook the food properly, and is probably dangerous as I expect the lack of fan would lead heat to build up in the wrong places.

The fact that you got it going again previously suggests that the fan motor has now failed and needs replacing. If you are good with a screwdriver these things can be replaced yourself.
