Hi
I am thinking of changing my tesco rewrads into virgin miles which will give me 70000 miles. I need to get another 30,000 to get 2 upgrades to upper class next year to LA. Can anyone tell me if I will accummulate these points quicker by spending on my tesco credit card or by getting a virgin atlantic white credit card.
Thanks

Upgrading
You do know you have to buy a more expensive fare to be entitled to upgrade using miles
Credit cards
The Virgin white has a sign up bonuse of 3000 miles. If you use the Amex card you get 2 miles per pound.
Not all places accept these so when you use the Visa card you get 1 mile per £1
Other options
American express Preferred reward Gold Charge card has a bonus of 20,000 Rewards (3 months to spend £1k )which can be converted to Virgin Flying club miles.
The first year fee is £95 BUT if you go through Quidco you will earn £60.
Also if I recommend you  you can get the £60 + 22000 rewards [you only need spend £500 in 3 months] (I get 12000)
Once you hit the spend limit and get the rewards, cancel the card and you will get a pro rata refund from the £95. Timescale is about 5 months so you would expect to get £45 refund and effectively the card will have earned you £20
Can't comment on the Tesco route0 -
Oooh thanks for that
Does 20,000 amex points convert 1:1 (giving me 20,000 virgin miles)?
How do I get a price for the "more expensive" upgradable flghts?0 -

Yes
Sometimes they also have promotions that give an extra 20% or so.

Read the link "more expensive fare" I posted.
Basically your fare has to be a certain "class"
As the link says
BTWTo upgrade your flight, simply call your local Flying Club number before departure (it's often easier to complete the whole process at the time of booking).
The AMEx preferred Gold is a CHARGE card-so you have to pay the balance off in full every month.0
