So would a person benefit at all
Yes, emotionally, from knowing that your creditors got back more of the money they were owed. Not financially unless the amount is enough to fully pay off all of the debts that caused the bankruptcy and have money left over. That's not impossible for some of the lower value bankruptcies and higher value PPI claims. A £60,000 PPI claim is one of the highest and would be more than enough to clear lots of bankruptcies.

Ok thanks thought I'd ask anyway..

Also what if an ex husband took a loan out but was 10 years ago would I have a claim to that or would it be too complicated ??
You guys seem to know your stuff many thanks...

If the ex husband took the loan out he'd presumably be the one who was paying the PPI and would be the one who had the right to make a claim, unless he was also BR and under the same constraints as you.

I did miss one thing in my last post: the moral satisfaction of getting PPI people who cheated you to pay up, even if you don't get the money yourself. Money is nice but such things can be good for morale even if no money is involved.

That seems more like him as the person who signed for it, even if payment was split. The old story of the one who signs being the one who has the debt and related things.
  • I was bankrupt in 2010 I sent in claims with a ppi company thinking I would be paid on any settled accounts and refused on the majority which were unsettled my first redress has come through and I have a bill from ppi company but will not receive the money won in the redress as it goes to the debt, I am now worried sick that the ppi company win anymore I'm going to owe lots of money and get nothing

Claisms companies should tell you not to use them the minute they find out you have arrears, defaults or amounts written off. In those cases, you end up paying their bill despite not getting any money.

Did you tell them you were a bankrupt?.
