Mornin All,

Sadly last eve i gave my lappie screen a drink of lager, although i wiped it off as soon as possible some has sneaked into the edge of the screen.

It is like a bright watermark fading to a duller grey, about 4inches by 2inches, will it get worse?
and if i have to change could i do it myself?

Screens themselves are sealed, however unless it is a LED screen (not too common) most LCD screens have the inverter under the bezel at the bottom, this raises the current from 12v to that required by the screen so if it got into that, I would really expect it to fail. However the symptoms you describe are not consistent with this. Did any spill onto the keyboard?

No they're not. They are made of several layers clamped together by a metal bracket. They are not sealed to airtight and water tight.

The inverter raises the voltage, not the current.

It may get worse as the liquid spreads between the layers. Most people are capable of changing a screen - what stops them is having the nerve to undo the plastic clips on the screen bezel. You sometimes need to use a fair bit of force and the cracking sound can be a bit disconcerting.
