Confused? you will be using comparison sites

Why is the quote on moneysupermarket.com less than half quoted when I click through using the same reference number?

Is this moneysupermarkets mistake or a trick by the AA to undercut other insurers. When I contacted the AA they suggested it was not like for like cover. However, when they cut off accidental cover, it was still more than a hundred quid and refused to offer the 48 quid quote under any circumstances.

Surely this is making a mockery of the comparison system?

PS They are trying to trick me into the Continous payment authority trick at £117.09 renewal as well

Take this up with Moneysupermarket. If you get a quote on the comparison site and don't change the cover or info on the Insurers site, the premium should stay the same.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Sometimes quote comparison sites only ask some of the questions. When you go through to the actual site, more questions are asked which can lead to a different price. They may also have more options as well.

I have copied this thread to Moneysupermarket and the AA. However, perhaps the crowd who got priced out should have a view.

I have to say though, prices rarely conform exactly to the comparison quote. Many seem to cheat 10 to 20%, but this AA one is really taking the P***

Copy the complaint to the FSA as well.

I'll let them reply first and make sure I haven't misunderstood anything, if they do reply! Details not accessible on the moneysupermarket could affect 10 or 20% of the price difference but this is more than 50%.

I seem to have similar problems every time.

Confused seem to quote the AA at £103.49, so perhaps the problem is with Money Supermarket?

The AA price was only £65 last year so they have a cheek to try and take me for £117.09 through a CPA. They won't anyway though because my Debit card number has changed!

I went through Swinton eventually, but they have more tricks than Tommy Cooper.

If you try to get a re-quote via topcashback they add the £30 cashback to the original quote on the comparison site so you are no better off. I also noticed the monthly payment was cheaper than the annual one. The annual quote of £52 which they used to beat the others is actually a monthly payment amounting to £60. A one off annual payment costs about £68!

All these guys deserve a good bashing by the authorities who are letting them run riot.

PS No reply from Moneysupermarket or the AA about this issue (except the standard letter asking why I haven't confirmed renewal of the policy! I will give them renewal.

My bank have just offered £25 off my best quote, and they will accept the £52 annual cash figure (rather than the hiked monthly one). I have 14 days to cancel the old insurance free of charges according to the forms.

So that is £27 for the year (Building only). I've even managed to cancel the automatic renewal on it.

All of those affiliate payments, referral fees and kickbacks have to be covered somewhere.... ;)
