I think my strawberries and blackberry wine is ready to bottle now as its stopped bubbling.. any tricks of the trade?

I'm gonna do cider next as I want a quick drink

I'm too much of a newbie to give you any tricks of the trade yet :rotfl: sorry! Just don't make the mistake I made with my cherry wine: play with the syphon and disturb the stuff at the bottom of the demi-john :o Had to wait hours until it settled again so I could bottle it!!

Grannytwice, I'm sorry I have no idea how to help with your problem? Have you tried google for an answer?

determined new ms, the recipe for coffee liqueur sounds really interesting. Thank you. I shall try that. I can see a couple of bottles of vodka on my next shopping list!

vodka is shockingly expensive now. My advice is the bigger the bottle the cheaper it is per cl! ;)

A nice bottle of wine is shockingly expensive too! It was one of the reasons I started to make my own. DD and her friend tried the Cherry Wine the night before last (although I wanted them to wait a few weeks lol) and said it was very nice but very strong!

I'm off to Budapest at the end of the week so might try and bring back a load of cheap vodka :)

I had dismissed coffee liqueur as I don't like coffee, but then remembered I love black Russians... gotta be a lot cheaper than buying Kahlua!

    Thank you
I'll just do that it will last longer as well lol:)
  • I'm just about to bottle my first fruit wine..

What's the best way to sterilize the wine bottles? do i use the same sterilizer as I used for the buckets and demis?

    Any other tips?

I use the same steriliser as I do the rest of my stuff. I clean the bottles really well first and then sterilise them. Don't forget to rinse them properly too afterwards (Not being patronising: I've made that mistake before!)

The "kids" got their hands on my cherry wine and drank it.... all of it! Teenagers back at university and my wine is safe again.
(And before anyone has a cow - as they would say to me lol - they are all adults, albeit young thirsty ones!)
