Every summer due to the vagueries of flights i generally miss the pre- booked bus time when returning from abroad. İs there a need(which i generally do) of rebooking on the next bus or can i use the existing tickets?

This is tucked away on their airports page:

More information about travelling by coach from airports
When selecting your coach time, please ensure you arrive at least 1 hour before the check-in desk for your flight opens, to allow for any unexpected traffic conditions. If you experience delays of up to 24 hours and miss your scheduled departure time, your ticket can be amended to allow you to travel on the next available coach. Please note that an amendment fee and excess fare may be payable.

the problem is that i usually get a cut price deal using this site's deals and the amendment fee is based on the full ticket price and last time i had to pay a charge it came to about 30 quid for a 3 ticket amendment.--does anyone just get on the later bus without an amendment?(presuming there are seats available).
i always allow plenty of time for delays but the airlines always thwart me!
Can i avoid this by booking a really really late bus time and getting on an 'earlier' timed bus??

that's pretty much what I do but with ferries, book the cheap ones at the very latest we'll arrive and, over the years, I've never had a problem getting on an earlier one (and very rarely had to pay the higher fare either)
