  • Dear Mr Tesco... what we'd really like when the offers change tomorrow is some Colgate PLAX mouthwash on BOGOF please!!! Well, we have to get rid of those £1 off mouthwash coupons somehow!
Anyone tripping over carrier bags of toiletries in their spare room? Here's an idea instead of buying storage boxes: In Tesco, Exotic fruit is displayed in really strong little pink cardboard boxes, they're half the size of the usual big green ones which makes them more portable. They stack beautifully and make your toiletry stash look really pretty as a pink tower! Tesco are happy for us to take them, they only get binned. And of course when you get to the till you tell them that you've brought your own box, and they give you 4 pts too. Hope that helps someone. I'll be looking out for fellow MSE'ers toddling round Tesco with little pink boxes in their trolly!

Just a quick question regarding the coupons - I have one HB left that expires today (the £2 of £8) but I can't make it to tesco today - I was wondering if anyone has tried using these coupons after they expire (fingers crossed SA doesn't notice the date!!) - does the till 'know' it's expired??

Another question about manufacturers coupons - if they do expire and the SA doesn't read the date, will they still scan through?? Do tills recognise when a coupon has expired???

Would be grateful for a reply - especially about using the Tesco HB/Quit Kit after they expire - THANK YOU!!!!XXXX

I posted earlier about this, but might have been on the clothing thread.

Although I havent specifically tried using an expired Tesco coupon on a Tesco till, Tesco tills should know when Tesco coupons have expired, as the till will have been programmed only to accept it until a certain date.

Non Tesco coupons however, will still scan on Tesco tills after their expiry date, it is up to the SA in these circumstances to spot them........unless Tesco know of their impending use beforehand

There is nothing in the barcode of a coupon to tell the till it has expired.

To tell if any coupon will scan in any stores look at the first two numbers of the barcode.....A coupon beginning 99 is nationally acceptable, although other restrictions may be in force from the supermarkets(eg a £10 coupon in Asda has to be manually entered).

The last digit on the coupon is a check digit, but the 3 digits before this show the value of the coupon(it has been known for a 50p coupon to scan at £4.50, when this number was misprinted....thanks a thousand times for this, Asda Mag Publishers).

My information is 2/3 months old, but this is how it was then.
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

Does anyone know when the next one should be due (roughly)?

Sorry, yes, DM = Daily Mail. The £4 was from last month. Earlier this month we had the £3.50 one. It is worth checking the Daily Newspaper thread in the morning to see if any papers are worth buying for the coupons.

I'm sure someone will be along with a link to the Newspaper thread in a minute :rotfl:
