tell you what, sweetheart, buy it or don't buy it, nobody here really cares. Just do everyone a favour and stop quacking on. Best of luck, etc.0

thank god i won't ever have to sell my house to you'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

Are you getting a survey done? Of course you are... well why not arrange for a gas engineer to attend at the same time to inspect and report on (or even service) the boiler? The surveyor won't touch it. Worth the 70 or 80 pounds I would say....0

Someone once told me that the UK worked without written rules because people had common courtesy to each other. However last summer clearly showed what I've known for years this common courtesy is going from every part of society.
Also people don't know other people's backgrounds and life experiences, and make the mistake of thinking because they are on a money saving site other people on the site don't have any money.
They forget the Queen is one of the most frugal people ever, and this may partly be due to the times she has lived through as everyone I've ever met, regardless of background, who has lived through the World War 2 even as a baby is frugal.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I asked that my vendors provide proof the boiler was safe as it was very old, they did but I would have done it myself if they'd refused. What's the harm in asking and saving yourself £70? I'm not rich enough that £70 doesn't matter!0

What a bizarre response! Some of the responses to my questions have been barbed frankly, therefore why should I show courtesy to posters like that? It works both ways.0 -
I bought a property once and when we moved in the central heating didnt work, that was kind of expected.Everything in the house was ancient, though well kept. The question I would ask you is,can you ask the EA to ask the vendors if the boiler has been serviced in 10 years, if they were living there ,or,if its just they dont have the paperwork. Then you can make a descision based ontheir response and your general feeling about the property and its upkeep.0

Hellfire! So much ungrateful and impolite back-and-forth about a flaming boiler. Which, if it failed to work on the day the OP may move in, would most likely cost a couple of grand to replace. In the big scheme of things where house-buying is concerned this could be seen as a pretty trivial matter.0
