Capital One Secured Card - Will I be successful
Comments

Hi
I was declined the classic card but offered the secured credit card. You should get an email giving details of how much security you will need to pay and how long you get to pay which is 8 weeks I think. Once you have paid the security amount I then received my card with 200.00 limit about 7 working days later(week after I'd received my pin number).
So in answer to your question as long as you accepted the offer then in my experience you should receive it after paying your security figure.
Good luck.0 -

Thanks, great to hear some other real life experiences of what to expect.
Having credit to spend isn't my motivation, the fact I am able to get credit once again is what I'm most pleased about.0 -
I managed to geta £300 capital one classic, got my pin first just waiting on the dam card lol.

My partner has also banked with HSBC (then-Midland) since she was a child. They can be extraordinarily lenient.
She earns around 15k (inc. overtime, etc., but somewhat less if just her basic is taken into account - about 10.5k). She has a £5,000 overdraft (this being the maximum they offer to personal customers), a credit card limit of £2,500 (it was £5500, then £3500, before she took the plunge and voluntarily chopped it down), plus they lent her £5300 last year. In addition to this, she's just been approved a mortgage (up to 90% LTV) in principle with them.
Thankfully, she doesn't use the OD or CC, and the loan is on its way to full repayment (early).
Can supply proof of the above. I believe the hype when it comes to HSBC doling out credit like it's going out of fashion.0 -
Look you can all jump on the bandwagon here all I was saying is it was hard believe that a school leaver went into HSBC and got over 20k worth of credit in 2005.
Wether the OP is on a fairy tale or not that's it on the subject.0 -
I don't understand Bugsybrowne why you're having this debate with yourself? It's neither relevant nor productive.
The point is, I, and others (as proven) have had credit given by HSBC in less than perfect situations.0 -
An update - accepted... £49 fee, but my card is on its way!
Very pleased!

You don't have to make up stories.
At that time I never even had a regular income apart from benefits and all these 'pre-approved' loan offers suddenly poped up via my online banking. Literally a couple of clicks of the mouse and an hour later thousands of pounds was available.
Needless to say I got in a mess as well..... so easy to do.
edit: also managed to get a cap one and barclay card in the same sitaution. Must have had access to credit which was multiple times my yearly income.0 -

Loose credit practice were more prevalent in the mid 2000s rather than the mid 90s surely!0 -
