Changing Estate Agents - does it put buyers off?

I've never understood why people change agents. What will the next agent do that the previous one didn't?
All they can do is stick a board up outside your house, and stick you on Rightmove. And ALL estate agents do that, so why change?
So... what do you think the agents do differently in areas where less than a quarter of the available properties are on RM?
If you think that "sale board & Rightmove" are all that any agent is able to do, you don't have much imagination....0 -

Or trust having dealt with the scumbags..:cool:It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Thanks for the replies everyone. When I signed up it was on the basis of no minimum period - as I said if they are confident I'll be happy with their service they wouldn't need to tie me in. So all I need to give is 2 weeks notice in writing (and there's no fee for leaving either - I made sure of that!). I'm happy to drop the price (well ok not happy, but realistic!), just hoping agent B will still offer me the 1% deal they had back in April. That way even if they are the same as the other agent at least I'll be paying out less if I do manage to sell the house.
If agent B are useless too then I'll have to look at either trying to sell privately or maybe an online agent - I did have visits from 11 different agents so have a pretty good idea of the options. I clearly have a lot to learn about selling houses, hope to stay in the next place for the long haul and avoid this stress again until the kids have left home!
Thanks again.0 -
Wow, 11 agents in to give you valuations.
The most I ever got in at one time was 4 and that was for quite a unique property with no comparables whatsoever. At that time I went for the highest valuation as I felt it was the closest to what I should achieve and property sold within 2 weeks, £2k under asking.
I normally get 3 valuations and tend to take the one I feel is the more realistic. If 2 valuations are the same, I go with the agent I feel I'm more comfortable with and can build a good relationship with. I usually end up going with independents as they do seem to offer more of a personal touch compared to the chains. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

Ha'way then bright spark. Enlighten me.
There's a bloke down the street got three different boards up outside his house. It's been for sale for 4 years now. I guess the second and third agents didn't come up with any great miraculous selling techniques either.
A "for sale" sign, and entry on to Rightmove. Apart from that there's Elmer Fudd else to do. If you're struggling to sell, drop your price.0 -

I don't have much love for estate agents but I don't think they're the problem with the house down the street.
Anyone selling a house with 3 agents is a delusional idiot. What goes around - comes around0
