Non working Game Cube

Hello all - I bought a Game Cube on E-Bay on behalf of my son who used his birthday money to pay for it.
It was described as tested and working.
Recieved it today - very well packed but it does not work. The disc does not spin and I get the message "Insert Disc" on the screen.
This is the first time I've ever had something arrive not working so I was hoping for some advise here about the return.
What service should I use to return it? Is Recorded Delivery OK or do I need a different service?
If I return it but dont open a dispute will I make a problem for myself if the seller does not refund?
If the seller refuses to refund return postage, is there anything I can do about it? I anticipate it will cost a few pounds to send it back - it came by Hermes.
I've not heard from the seller yet but I thought forwarned is forarmed, Many thanks

I'd just tell the seller, and ask if they could pay the return postage, if they're a good seller they will pay the return postage (£3.30 https://www.myhermes.co.uk) or they may not even ask for it back. If they are a bad seller they may ask for it back then not fully refund you, this is why it's essential to use a tracked service such as myHermes. If they do not fully refund you then you can take the matter to an eBay SNAD dispute.0
