£20 cancellation fee

i recently switched from british gas click energy to Npower sign online 7. When my final elec bill arrived there was a £20 cancellation fee. Is this normal?
It sure makes switching suppliers less attractive if I'm to be charged money every time I cancel!

Thanks

James

As far as I'm aware there isn't a cancellation fee for click. Are you sure you were on click energy, not on a capped tariff with paperless billing?

I recently left british Gas and got charged the £20. I wasn't only any sort of capped tariff - can't see how they can possibly charge this.

The only tarrifs that charge cancellation fees are the capped/fixed and discounted tariffs (by discounted I don't mean click energy). Call in and check which tariff you were on, if you have been charged a fee incorrectly it should be refunded.

Oh, i was on discounted, guess it was my fault then. I actually left about 5 days before the discount came to an end, though had been with them over a year.

Thanks for the help - I still got the money back anyway as the fee certianly isn't mentioned in ANY of the paperwork I have from BG.
