Hi Guys, Me again.
Son just brought his pc over, he,s just gone back online after 2 years being away.
Trying to get windows updates, there must be hundreds, BUT, when I check for updates, it goes through the motions, but gives no results. On the notification tray, bottom right, the update icon is there, and when I hover, it says" cannot check for updates". No reason or advice.
Any advice would be greatful:beer:

I recall seeing somewhere that if you are using XP and still on edition sp1 then it won't update through the normal channels - you have to do a manual update...... to SP3 - this is because it's so long since the machine was updated and the version SP1 does not support the current update system of Microsoft.
Don't know the details or the fix as this is only a vague recollection I have.
Feel free to tell me if I'm wrong and got it back to front0 -

If you have any further trouble, make sure the time and date are correct, then go get the latest service pack(s).0

- Restart the machine
- Check for updates
- See step 1; continue until no more updates are available.
