CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY to suit mum & teenager

I would really like to get away this Christmas but I have a checklist I would like to tick:

Must be sunny
Must have things a lively 18 year old boy would like
Must have culture and relaxation for mum
Prefer hotel
Prefer to leave from Edinburgh or Glasgow airport
Prefer not to have to travel half way across the world if poss
Budget of up to £2,000 inclusive

Any suggestions?

Over Christmas is likely to be very expensive whereever you go - if you can make mid December it will be much cheaper - we've had some very cheap deals to the Canaries in early/mid December and it'll almost certainly be warm and sunny.
  • We have been to Gambia at christmas ticks your boxes i think , though its like marmite you love it or hate it !

Tunisia is closest, but you can't guarantee winter sun.

Morocco? I am suggesting this as I have been to both Morocco and Tunisia in December and found Morocco a little warmer and also more to see. If you plump for Marrakesh plenty for you both to do and although no beach the hotels have lovely pools, if you plump for Agadir there is a beach but not as much to see from a cultural point of view - probably enough for a week

Apart from the obvious, what sort of things does the 18 yr old enjoy doing on holiday?
