Mexico and the worry of food for partner

Hi
We planning our Honeymoon in Mexico and we are thinking of areas like:
Playa Mujeres
Playa Paraiso
Playa del carmen
Puerto Aventuras
Puerto Morelos
Riviera Maya
Basically quieter areas and ideal for a honeymoon. This has a drawback that there are isnt much choice for food apart from the hotel offerings.
We will be going with an all inclusive option but my partner is quite particular with the type of food the restaurants in the hotel will serve, most of them will be al-carte restaurants so should hopefully expect good quality but as some of the hotels are only near other hotels does anyone have any particular recommendations where we could eat outside if we wanted this choice?
I know Playa del carmen is good because you have the beauty of 5th avenue which I hear is a strip of bars and restaurants so that would be good but are they any other similar strips at the places I have identified?
My partner is a vegetarian so I think choice will be quite limited for her and she would prefer to have the choice of being able to go to the places she is normally acustumed too on a few occasions like a Pizza hut or macdonalds. Probably not good examples but hopefully you know what I mean...
I guess on 5th avenue they will have these type of food places, but is there anywhere else apart from downtown Cancun that will have this choice of food? as we would prefer to walk to these places rather than taking shuttles and taxis
Thanks

Water is the main problem, avoid most cold foods like salads. Always use bottled water, even cleaning your teeth and remember ice is a no-no.0

Can I ask why is that? Is it contaiminated.
That brings me onto the question of vaccinations, do you need them for holiday destinations in Mexico?

Playa del Carmen has italian restaurants on 5th Avenue, so veggie pizza and veggie pasta is available.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I wouldn't be worried about finding vegetarian food in Mexico...many of their local specialities are bean-based, rice-based and corn-based so it should actually be fairly veggie-friendly. Personally I don't go on holiday to eat in chains and reckon you're better off sticking with the local food if you want the full experience (within the precautions set out above, of course). I think any destination you pick from that list will be fine

I can see why you have concerns. We are Vegetarian and went to Acapulco on honeymoon, albeit 11 years ago. I found it really quite difficult, because we went to a 5* hotel (room only) and ate out each night. I found it quite hard to get vegetarian stuff, they would suggest ham etc when I said 'no meat'. We went to Pizza Hut fairly regularly when we were there, so can see where you are coming from. We did find an italian restaurant, it was very quiet but we went there quite a few times and they got used to my diet!! :rotfl:0
