As long as your ESTA, plane ticket and passport match then it won't be a problem. I've been married almost 4 years and still have my passport in my maiden name which I don't use for anything else. I kept one credit card in my maiden name in case I was hiring a car on holiday then realised my driving licence is in my married name - it's never been a problem even hiring a car with 2 names. I don't see why you should change your passport even if you change all your accounts etc, wait til 9 months before it's due to expire as this can be added to your new passport expiry date.

    Enjoy your wedding and honeymoon.

Plenty of married women continue to use their maiden names, and have no problems at all.

I still have my passport in my maiden name as I got married 12 months into the passport. I also have a bank account in my maiden name as well. Its not a legal requirement to change your name when you get married. As long as the names on your travel documents and tickets match to your passport then you will be ok.
and what name do you need to put on you travel insurance ?
    many thanks

As your passport is in your maiden name put your insurance in your maiden name too.

It seems to me that the passport office are just trying to frighten me into coughing up for a new passport.

    What do you think?
I think they are telling you to book flight tickets in the same name as appears in your passport as if you don't then you don't fly.

As an aside the ESTA for the US has to be in the same name as your passport.
