Do credit files get linked when you issue secondary card holder?

Just applied for the 123 Santander cashback credit card and thought my BF could do with one as he spends about £200 on petrol each month. I'd like him on as additional but does it link our credit files?

And does anyone know if they will issue a third card? My Mum could do with one! lol

No, there is no link made as you are still fully responsible for the debt.

I don't think that CC providers will issue cards for 2 additional holders though. And you should also be aware of what restrictions are placed on who can be an additional holder - my Mum tried to get me an additional card on a CC once (not Santander) and was told that only a spouse could be issued with one.

Not sure if it is limited to spouses, but I was once told the additional cardholder must live at the same address.

We tried to get a 3rd card once for our daughter but were told only 1 additional card was possible.

Could be different issuers have different rules.
