Because people forget things and sometimes over the phone people can feel under pressure. It's perfectly legal and understandable.
Apart from anything else it can work both ways, they can make mistakes too and you need to check that they have interpreted what you have said to them over the phone too.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

The FOS tend not to agree, if you answer correctly, and the schedule is then written up incorrectly, or if the insurer simply doesn't ask, it's not acceptable to change or add information. The insurer can say what they want, the customer doesn't need to check they insurer hasn't made mistakes for the FOS to rule in their favour.

Dont panic Annie, Dont panic. oooh,

Quentin, Quentn,!!!!!!, I meant Quentin oooooohh..

I should think before I run off at the brain , very nearly did it yesterday in Leeds.
Young man asked me for a light for his cigarette out side Leeds bus station, I am so glad I bit my tongue, I was horrified that I nearly said 'It'll stunt your growth' he was a little man, (dont know whether i would cause offence by saying dwarf, no offence meant.) I wondered when I got home whether he would have taken it in the spirit it was intended or been offended.
    Sorry Q :o

to be fair to the insurers, they sent two letters, why on earth should they phone as well

When changing banks, one needs to be mega careful that nothnig slips down a hole, and clearly this hasnt been the case here.

It should also be noted that the FOS do also consider the IQ of the person. If someone complains on basis that they are a busy GP then the FOS would consider them to be more intellectual than say a parcel courier (I use that example as I am aware of a case just like that where the response was "he is parcel courier and could not be expected to understand").

So, it can be best not to play the occupation card as it could backfire as effectively you are admitting that you should know better. Especially when it comes to not answering questions correctly.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

Who would you reckon looks at their bank statements more, and generally would pick this up. You must have met a few doctors, and could you honestly say they're better with finance?
