Ridiculous fuel bill

Options
Does anyone think that £75 a moth for gas and £62 amonth for electricity is high? I had a letter from SWALEC today saying I owe £50 for electric and £74 for gas. I think the monthly payments are high enough already but is this the norm? I am seriously thinking of changing suppliers because I live in a small terraced, 2 bed house and I think this is extortionate.

What is you annual consumption of gas and electricity in Kwh?

You'll need this data anyway to use in your research for a cheaper deal.

I regard myself as a low user in a mid terrace and use around 2000Kwh electricity and 8000kwh gas /year.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Give us your kWh figures: your monthly DD payments have nothing to do with the actual energy you are using.

Your gas figure looks really low, unless you only use gas for your cooker or something? If you use gas to heat your home, I would guess that your consumption is actually 18,000 kWh rather than 1,800 kWh.

What size house or flat do you live in?

Indeed, you cannot possibly be paying £53pm if your gas consumption is only 1,800 kWh's pa, as that would cost less than £100pa.

I suspect they mean 1,800 gas units i.e. approx 20,000kWh.

Im not sure its that high TBH. I use Electric for everything except heating (central and water) - with that being Oil.

As a consequence I am not on a duel fuel tarrif - AND Im in a 4 bed home with 2 kids (6 & 9) so my electric will be higher than some - BUT I regularly switch to the cheapest tarrif in my area and currently im using around £130/month :(

Im a high user i know - having TVs in the kids room, Sky in two rooms, Surround sound amplifyers, i run a fish tank as well as dish washer/washing machine/tumble dryer, but I do use energy efficeint lights, and turn things off standby so ????

Im due to move home soon, and working out my Electric and comparative Gas useage (from my oil use), Im estimating a yearly bill of around £1800 - so £150/month for everything - once I move.

Oh - as a guide, I use around 8000KW electric/year to get the £130/month bill.
