Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good luck everyone.

    Afternoon all

LC thanks so much for keeping things going for the next 3 weeks. I am very excited about China as I am all packed now. Looking forward to the business class travel I just need to try not to look out of place:p

I was red for last week with £31 / £20 as I won't be about for the next few weeks I won't be pledging for the coming week. I hope you all have a good few weeks and I will catch up when I am back.:D
    Weekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30

  • Hi LC (and everyone else),
Just popping in to set my target at £10 for the week ahead - I've done all my spends for birthday presents etc so have no need to be overspending next week.
I slightly slipped into the red last week, and spent £10.50 (blimming bin cleaner turning up last night wanting paid after I'd already spent in Asd@ during the day...

  • This might be a good way to stay motivated. I'm a 'mare for taking out cash from the cashpoint to buy something small then spending it "just because it's there"

For my first week I think i'll start at £20 and see how it goes.

Im new to this, but trying to keep a close eye on my cash box now we've started out DMP. I get paid in cash which is even worse.

Im saying £15 to start with.
    DMP start date 14/5/12. 1st payment 1/6/2012. TOTAL DEBTS = £24,087.00

Gonna try for £25 this week - possibly seeing another friend in a show so that will be my main expense, but NO tea from cafes or coffee shops, NO random chocolate purchases and NO eating out!!! My wallet and my waistline will thank me :D

    Morning

Last week whilst visiting my parents I went to 2 Scottish Country Dance classes, I only had to pay for one (£3.50) as my Mum treated me to the other :), wish I could go more often great fun and a good work out.

    Last week £3.50/£5

Next week I pledge to spend no more than £5

Thanks PP & LC for running the challenge and good luck to everyone joining in.
