Problem when connecting to remote computer?

Basically I need to connect to my company network to work at home. I use Windows Vista Home Basic.
My company asks me to use a Checkpoint VPN client, which is installed on my computer. I also connected via the Remote Desktop Connection (RDP session).
I have Optic Fibre Broadband and use the Huawei Echolife HG532.
But when I connect via Windows Remote Desktop Connection, it always said "This computer can't connect to the remote computer".
Is there anything I can do? I suspect I need to change something in my router configuration, but I don’t know how.

Vista and Windows 7 require the professional version to allow Windows remote desktop to work.
There are some workarounds which might work by enabling guest account, otherwise need to get third party software to connect.
Strangely Windows Live Mesh installed does allow connection using Home versions of these OS's but this routes via Knows Live so not sure if via VPN would work + Would need to set up work PC with this which is probably not going to be within companies security policy.
Best option would be for company to supply a laptop with Windows7 professional installed.0
