Cottage weekends

Hello, a group of us are hoping to go away for a weekend in July or August - nothing at a holiday resort, just a cottage/chalet type of thing.

I don't know where to begin looking but it needs to be cheap. Can anybody suggest websites to find one?

Thanks for your time :)

You may find it very difficult to get somewhere for just a weekend in the height of the season. Don't forget July/August is school holidays & peak season. If the cottage is normally let from Saturday to Saturday then you need it to be empty for 2 weeks in order to be available for the middle weekend. That's unlikely in peak season.
    Good luck, though

    Hi
Just google Cottage Holidays and you should get plenty of sites to look at. You can usually enter how many days you would like to stay.
If you have any Tesco vouchers then check out the Rewards section on clubcard site; they have deals for changing vouchers to Cottages for you holiday reduction

There will be plenty outside of the school holidays... how many do you want the cottage to sleep?
We have some vacancies in July but as the other poster said we are Saturday to Saturday and would rather not give up two weeks for the sake of 3 nights.... I might a little nearer the date though....
Do you know what area you want to stay? there are so many sites to look on.

We do Friday check-ins, not Saturdays, as the bulk of our bookings are 3 night weekends. Peak District.

How many of you are there? And which are your preferred dates?
  • Peak District sounds fine. We were hoping for the last weekend of either July or August but there'll be roughly 8 of us.

Have pm-ed you but also suggest looking at bunk barns. In our case these are rooms for 4, 6 or 8, you bring your own duvet or sleeping bag, we provide sheets and pillows. We never mix groups so even if there's only one of you we would never put you into a room with strangers. You share bathroom facilities with the campsite so it isn't luxury but the rooms are warm, comfortable and lockable. There's a small kitchen but the pub next door does astonishing breakfasts as well as the usual pub food. Ours cost £15 a night per person or 13 in low season. Great for walkers and cyclists in particular.(Children and dogs welcome too)

There are lots of them all round the Peak District as I'm sure there are in other areas, really fabulous for a cheap holiday.
