Hello guys.
I'm looking for a car insurance now...
In my current policy I’m the owner of the car and the policy is in my name and I had my father added to the policy as additional driver.
Now the prices have gone up but when I put the policy under my father's name, the price goes down dramatically!
I held car insurance for 2 years without claiming anything. so I guess this is called No Claim Bonus.
My father entered with me in the last year policy as additional driver. Does that mean he earned now a 1 year no claim bonus?
And if I get the policy under my father's name. Will this affect my chances in getting cheaper quote in the future?

It will decrease your chances of getting any claims you make paid.
Who would you declare as the main driver?Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

The usage of the car is almost %50-%50 with my father.
I use it sometimes to go to work and drive my parents to shopping or vacations and go out at weekend nights with my friends.
My father would use it for shopping too and sometimes in commuting and driving it when i get tired when we go in holdiays...etc.
but the car is registered under my name.0 -
The car being in your name will cry Fronting to the insurance company, you will need to nominate the main driver and additional drivers and if you decide your dad is the main driver and you are not, but it is your car it will look very suspicious that you are doing this to get a cheaper quote.
Does your dad have access to another vehicle that he drives?0 -
They could only void the policy if they can prove that you are fronting (this is what it is called when you obtain cheaper insurance by putting the main driver as your father instead of you, when realistically, your father is not the main driver). Does your father have access to another vehicle?0

If your father hasn't declared that you are the main driver, you and him are "Fronting" which is illegal. The policy could be voided, any payouts the insurers have to make to third parties could be reclaimed from you, a fraud marker could be placed against your names on insurance databases, and he could be prosecuted for providing false information to obtain a certificate of insurance.
NCD only applies to the policyholder not named drivers; although a few companies will offer NCD to a named driver, although this is only valid with that insurer. Most insurers will only accept NCD earned on a policy in your own name.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

My father has no access to any other car.
That is why I feel we are sharing the car %50-%50
I guess having the car registered under my name would make it look suspicious if I put my father as the first driver even when he has no access to any other car.0 -
Only takes a few phone calls to see who is really the main driver.
Do you work? Use the car for work daily? Or does your father use teh car for work daily?
The problem is you will only find out they wont pay when its too late. Then your going to be moaning they cancelled your policy and then you cant get insurance.
Committing fraud will make you almost uninsurable in the future.
