Terms and conditions – Weekend in Worthing, meet and spend a day with Lewis Crathern, four
time British kitesurfing champion
1) This promotion is open to residents of Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) aged 18
years or over, excluding employees and their families of the promoter, its agents or anyone
professionally connected with the promotion.
2) Closing date midnight on 20.05.12. Any entries received after this date will not be accepted.
3) How to enter: To enter the promotion, please enter your details via the web link on the
website https://www.visitworthing.co.uk/whats-on/kitesurfing entry page (you will be required to
enter the following information, certain fields must be completed):
a. Title

e. Address
f. Telephone number (so we can contact you if you are the winner)

4) There is one prize to be won, which is for two people (the winner and guest).
5) The prize weekend must be taken over the weekend of Saturday 9th June and Sunday 10th
June 2012. The prize is date specific and cannot be transferred or postponed to a later date.
6) Accommodation will be provided on Friday 8th June and Saturday 9th June 2012 at The
Burlington Hotel Restaurant, Bar, Club and Hotel, Worthing.
7) Hotel check in is from 3pm onwards on Friday 8th June.
8) Check out time is no later than 11am on Sunday 10th June.
9) Breakfast is included on both the Saturday and Sunday. Please check service times with the
Hotel.
10) Dinner is included on the Saturday night and consists of two courses and a bottle of wine for
two people. Please check service times with the Hotel.
11) The Saturday activity (a two hour session on the water front) starts at 8.30am. Meeting time
is 8.15am on the Saturday at Lancing Green Car Park West Sussex BN15 8RA. Details can be

12) The Saturday comprises of a full day with Lewis Crathern, four time British Kitesurfing
champion and will comprise a meet and greet, a two hour tutorial / lesson in the basics of
kitesufing and chance to spend time with Lewis after the tutorial. The tutorial / lesson will be
tailored to the winners and guest’s ability (beginner, intermediate, advanced etc). If the
winner or guest hold BKSA insurance, this must be brought along to the weekend for review.
13) Winner and guest will be required to bring along the following:
a. Old trainers (that you are happy to go into the water in)
b. A towel
c. Water bottle
d. Sun glasses
e. Sun cream
f. Snacks
g. A bag for all of the above to go in (to transport to and from the teaching zone)
14) All other costs and expenses other than those stipulated are the winner’s and guest’s own,
including spending money, all other meals, travel and insurance, as required.
15) The winner will be drawn at random under independent supervision and will be notified
either via telephone or email week commencing 21 May 2012.
16) In the event the claim for a prize is not received by the promoter within 28 days, the
promoter reserves the right to withdraw prize entitlement and award the prize to a reserve
selected at the same time as the original.
17) No cash or other prize alternative available, in whole or in part, except owing to
circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the promoter, the promoter reserves the
right to substitute an alternative of equal or greater value. Unless otherwise agreed with the
promoter, winner and guest are not allowed to transfer the right to take up the prize to
anyone else.
18) Entrants must be in good physical condition, have no fear of water and be able to swim at a
good standard.
19) Entrants will be required to sign a full disclaimer prior to undertaking the kitesurfing
activities included within the prize.
20) The winner must advise Visit Worthing on 01903 239868 during opening hours only:
Monday - Saturday - 9.30am - 5.00pm (Tuesday 10.30am - 5.00pm) immediately of any
illness or medical conditions along with any specific requirements for the weekend. Insofar
as permitted by law, Visit Worthing and Brighton Kitesurfing Academy cannot accept any
responsibility for any medical conditions or any loss or damage to property or personal
injury arising directly or indirectly from participation in this promotion, unless negligence is
proven.
21) Personal insurance against loss, damage, injury or accident while participating in the lessons
is the responsibility of the winner and guest.
22) Kitesurfing activities on the Saturday will be provided by Brighton Kitesurfing Academy.
23) Kitesurfing activities may need to be postponed by the promoter, at its absolute discretion,
owing to the weather. Should the weather not be at the desired level required (e.g. If the
wind speed is too strong, it is raining etc), the weekend will be re-arranged and will take
place as soon as possible to dates of mutual convenience. We will ensure we provide as
much notice as possible to you should we need to cancel.
24) Should the winner and guest not be able to attend such re-arranged weekend due to
unforeseen circumstances, the weekend can be postponed, but must be taken before 31st
October 2012. The winner must notify Visit Worthing on 01903 239868 during opening
hours only: Monday - Saturday - 9.30am - 5.00pm (Tuesday 10.30am - 5.00pm) as soon as
possible so alternative dates can be confirmed. We do ask that you provide as much notice
as possible.
25) Safety & circumstances beyond our control: As your safety is our first concern, the activities
may be cancelled or re-scheduled or curtailed by us in weather conditions which may in our
view make the activities more dangerous or unsafe or due to circumstances beyond our
control (including staff illness). In appropriate circumstances the activities type and / or
itinerary may be altered as necessary. Please contact Visit Worthing on 01903 239868 during
opening hours only: Monday - Saturday - 9.30am - 5.00pm (Tuesday 10.30am - 5.00pm) if in
any doubt as to whether an activity can take place. As with other activity-based experiences,
kitesurfing activities contain an element of risk. It must be understood that your
participation in these activities is your decision and at your risk.
26) Visit Worthing and Brighton Kitesurfing Academy have primary responsibility for the safety
of the winner and guest and activities at all times their decision is final. If either the winner
or guest commits an illegal or potentially dangerous act including carrying or taking of drugs
during or before an activity, or is under the influence of alcohol, persistently disregards the
instructions of the instructor, or is disruptive or exhibits difficult behaviour, Visit Worthing
and Brighton Kitesurfing Academy reserve the right to terminate such persons’ participation
in the activities with no responsibility to them. In such an event there will be no right to
reschedule and Visit Worthing reserve the right to make a claim for costs and losses
incurred.
27) Damage by customers: Should damage or loss to persons or equipment be caused as a result
of wilful damage or gross negligence by either the winner and guest, the winner or guest
under the influence of alcohol or drugs or as a result of refusal or failure to obey instructions
given by our staff, then he or she will be liable for the full amount of repair or replacement
and any resulting costs. The activities instructor reserves the right to terminate the activities.
Brighton Kitesurfing Academy equipment and instructors are fully insured. However we
cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to any person caused other than through
our negligence or breach of contract or for damage to your property howsoever caused and
we recommend that you take out appropriate insurance cover yourselves for such uninsured
losses.
28) Feedback: Feedback is extremely valuable to us for monitoring the satisfaction of the
promotion. If you are not given a feedback form and would like one, please don’t hesitate to
ask. If you have any questions or concerns during the weekend, please raise them
immediately with Visit Worthing on 01903 239868 during opening hours only: Monday -
Saturday - 9.30am - 5.00pm (Tuesday 10.30am - 5.00pm) so that we can solve any problems
as soon as possible.
29) The name and county of the winner will be available by writing to Visit Worthing, Adur
District Council and Worthing Borough Council, Rm 228, Adur Civic Centre, Ham Road,
Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, BN43 6PR within 3 months of the closing date.
30) Publicity: By entering this promotion, you consent to the world-wide royalty free and
irrevocable license to take and use photographs and/or video footage of your participation
in the weekend and activities for such purposes as we think fit including but without
limitation, for our marketing, publicity and promotional advertising, individually or in
conjunction with other material, including without limitation using images in any medium
whether now known or hereafter invented, including the internet and other electronic
media, without restriction as to manner, frequency or duration of usage. If you do not
consent to the use of your image in this way, please do not enter the promotion.
