Sorry to criticise, but complaint letters should be short, to the point and not divert from the solution you want.
That is, if you want your money back, ask for it and stop there. Don't offer technical solutions or that leads you down the path of, "OK, we'll try that then". Additionally it confirms a degree of expertise that you don't want burdened with. They are car people, you want a working car or cash, not a discussion of the best way of fixing the broken one.
I'd have to add these cars are great little things generally, and while everything can break, a quick sniff test on the MOT machine (or chemical check if they have one) and ten minutes on a pressure test would have pretty much exhausted all of the potential causes of failure. I'm hazarding this a small trader with little or no workshop space that is clueless about mechanics themselves and is beginning to work out how best to fob you off.
Point taken, I do tend to gabble but I didn't want him thinking I'm clueless (which I am). Thanks for the replies. I'll shut up now and leave them to it-Slimming World Challenge

Well they are fixing it properly at last!
Just had this reply:
We can lend you a VW Polo, We may need the fiesta for up to 2 weeks if you want to inform your insurance company, By the sounds of it the head gasket maybe faulty so we will need to carry out pressure tests etc. We will also supply the fiesta with a fresh 3 month warranty as well when the work is complete. Please let me know when you want to pop in to swop over cars.
Fingers and toes crossed that it gets done properly this time!If they fix it properly it should run sweet as a nut for a while.
