Parking fine averted

My wife parked at a retail park in Nottingham and a few days later received a parking ticket.
She parked in a disabled bay walked over to the meter, decided that she didnt need to pay and did some shopping.
A few days later a parking fine with accompanying picture was received through the post.
The picture was from a camera high up on a pole. It clearly shows the car in the disabled bay but the glare from the windscreen is such that you cant see the disabled badge disaplyed.
She duly sent off a photocopy of her badge and a stern letter and receievd a letter back saying no further action would be taken "on this occassion" (whatever thats supposed to mean/imply).

The point here is that the lazy ba***rds didnt even walk to the vehicle to check if the disabled badge was disaplyed, they just sat in an ops room somewhere and fired off a standard letter for parking without paying hoping that you would pay the so-called fine.

good to hear that common sense prevailed in this case, which is a rare thing.

was it a private car park?
please read though some of the posts on here, and you will soon realise that private companys can not issue fines, only councils and the police can issue fines.

Yes what company was this? Or was it a council? Purely out of interest and thanks for posting!

    Good news.

However, the Blue Badge scheme does not apply to private car parks. Anyone, who is disabled under the terms of The Equality Act 2010 can use a disabled parking bay. If they are also Blue Badge holders, they don't need to display it.

Therefore, personally, I'd write back, refusing their condescending "one off" offer, and telling them that I would be only prepared to accept it with a full and unreserved apology, plus details of how they propose not to contravene The Equality Act 2010 again.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

As others have said, if she has a genuine disability she doesn't even need a Blue Badge on private land. It's a myth because the scheme doesn't even apply, instead the Equality Act 2010 does.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
