need advice on money, I'm pregnant & bf cheated

Hello All,

I've left my bf as he cheated while I'm pregnant. I now need to learn what financial plans or ideas, now I'm single. I need some advice on how to organise my money and any financial tips on dealing benefits etc.. concerning children or just living.

I'm feeling like a lost lamb in the slaughter house !

Can anyone please give me some good ideas?

Thanks

Try telling us where you're currently living, are you working, how soon are you due, what you need/ want to achieve etc.

At the moment the only real advice is chin up. (((HUGS)))

benefits do depend on your situation currently but assuming you gave up working when you have the baby you would get:
    - Income Support
    - Full Council Tax Benefit (today - I believe this could change)
    - Healthy Start Vouchers
    - Child Tax Credit
    - Housing Benefit if you're renting
    - Child Benefit

If you don't give up work (and don't unless you have to - its' very isolating, particularly as a single mum), you'll still potentially get everything bar Income Support plus possibly Working Tax Credit and additional Child Tax Credit to help with your childcare payments. Much will depend on what you earn - you can push your details through https://www.entitledto.co.uk and that will give you a better idea. It is worth playing with part-time and full-time scenarios so you can decide what to do when your maternity leave is up.

My ex walked out on me over 3 years ago when I was just pregnant with our third child. I had no idea how I would cope but I have and I'm fine and whilst it's taken longer to get there than I would like, I am getting there! I am sure you have plenty of people around you to support you but feel free to PM me if I can help at all. Take care.

    Hi Jane,

Welcome to the forum. I'm expecting my first also but have a wonderful husband to support me. I can only imagine all the things you are dealing with right now.

You'll find lots of advice on the various boards regarding budgeting, benefits, and finding the best deals on anything from utilities to groceries. There are also many links on here to freebies for babies.
There are also discussion threads for 1-12, 12-24 and 24+ weeks pregnant.

Do you have anyone who can support you? Is there a citizens' advice bureau or other agency in your town, or can your midwife suggest someone you can speak to?

Best of luck and hope to see you on one of the pregnancy threads.
