Misspelt name on Abbey mortgage offer

Oh I see; I was just asking because I've had issues with Santander in the past making errors with my name!
You do have my sympathy as I know how difficult Santander can be to deal with when even the slightest thing goes wrong, and also how stressful the waiting on a mortgage part can be too!
I'd definitely be on at your broker though, I would be fuming at such a basic error!
When it's all sorted out, do check your credit reports. I only say this because although my name issue wasn't on a mortgage product, it was with a bank account. It stuck around on my credit report as an 'alias' and affected credit applications because of this. I didn't even know it was on there, as I never really checked my credit report before. I don't really know how it works, but I guess it may also show another link to you if it was a joint application, so you'll be financially linked to this other fictitious person. I know it all sounds really far fetched and I never really understood how it was possible but one tiny typo was all it took!0 -
Well, we couldn't get hold of our broker on lunch, so my wife rang Abbey direct (as account number was on a fax sent to our solicitor), and a lady there said that a new mortgage offer was faxed over to our solicitors at 1:05pm. A little annoying as it was apparently sorted out at 11:30am, but they took 90 minutes to fax it!
I'm sure that it's fine now, but I won't believe it until either my broker or solicitor confirm it!
I have to admit that I was slightly surprised that Abbey spoke to us direct, but I'm not complaining.

I probably should have said in my initial post that although it won't be a problem they will do their best to !!!! it up.If this was my case I would be chasing every hour as it would be an embarrassment to me and my business making the mistake.

Well, my current brokers don't seem to work to the same standards as you Dave.
We rang our brokers originally at 1:45, but was told that the lady was on lunch until 2pm so she'd ring us back after that.
We obviously found out since then (solicitor has confirmed) that the new mortgage offer is ready. However our broker still hasn't rung me back (2 hours+ later), and as far as they know I could still be really stressed about whether it was all going to go through!
Anyway, our solitor has requested the funds, so hopefully Abbey will confirm bck to them that the money will be ready in time. It still leaves us 48 hours for that to happen, so I'm finally not that worried.

Take the good news and do not spent time fretting over the bad..
Keep the solicitor, dump the broker and be thankful Santander have made one family happy this month..
Good luck with the completion...I am a Mortgage Broker
