As stclair correctly implies - it will have rejected at the outset. It needs a handshake from the receiving system .... and won't have got one. Aspects 6 & 7 on this diagram. But not all banks send the acceptance / rejection signal back to the customer.

I always send a "testing amount" first to ensure all info I have typed / been supplied with is correct. Usually no more than £5.00 then when receipt is confirmed into the required account then the larger funds can be moved with piece of mind.ORIGINAL MORTGAGE AMOUNT £106,454.00 (Started Sept 2007)
NOV 2021 O/S AMOUNT £1,694.41 OUR DEBT REDUCED BY £104,759.59 by std regular, over-payments & off-setting.
BofE +0.19% Tracker Repayment Offset Mortgage Discounted Sept 07-10 then increased to BofE +0.62% until 20270
