Help am trying to download wedding video onto my hard drive. Windows Media player will play it from the dvd+R itself, but when I have copied the file nothing is recognised get usual message to check online, the suggested software by windows is VLC Media Player, but have subsequently read that you cant burn to another DVD with this.
Ideally what I would like to do is download the wedding video onto my hard drive, edit it - not sure with what tho, then burn onto another DVD.
Any help and advice would be really welcome, bearing in mind too technical info may bamboozle my simple non-techie mind!

You could use this: http://alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
to record the disc image and burn the image to another DVD, but it wouldn't allow you to editSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
Use imgburn nice and simple to copy to drive0

What is/are the filename(s) and extension(s) that you have copied? Are they in a video_ts folder?
to do a straight duplicate, use imgburn "create image file from disc" to copy it to an iso file on the hard disk, then burn another one using the "write image file to disc" function.
You can install vlc (which is principally a video player) to make it easy to play the iso without needing a dvd in, with one click
To edit it, you will have to open the underlying files (*.vob) in a video editor http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows-live/movie-maker-get-started , on a standard dvd they are found in the video_ts folder.!!

Thanks for replies.
Had a look at imgburn website & will def try it.
The site also suggests using SpeedUpMyPC beforehand to free scan for speed issues, only this website on WOT is orange not green
a. will it help? b. how trustworthy is it?
I would like to give it a go as I have recently encountered streaming issues esp with buffering on virtually all web sites incl BBC, ITV, Youtube etc, would this help with the buffering?
At the moment my download speed is approx 1.2Mb upload speed is 0.3Mb
Yes they are in a Video_TS FOlder, Filename is VTS_01_10 -
the important files are the vob's, playable using vlc, and can be edited using the editor I linked to - you probably have a video editor on the machine already
Don't install speedup utilities, download from here http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn/
follow the sticky thread above if you have performance issues, but it's unlikely to cure a poor download speed.

Will this help with the buffering? The problem has only really occurred approx 1 month ago, buffering wasn't very fast but ok. Now its so slow I usually give up. Just wondered if I've done something inadvertently? I run Avira & Malwarebytes regularly & they are all clean.
We live in the country so have learned to except poor speeds but watching any type of streamed video seems to have really become impossible.
Just straight copying - the files seem to be all vts or how do I get them as vobs?0 -
probably not if you have a poor download speed, it depends on exactly how your machine is setup.
vob is the extension, eg vts_01_0.vob!!
