Should I buy a kitchen with gift vouchers?

Hi,

I am thinking about buying a new Wickes Kitchen with Wickes vouchers that I can get from work. Through this scheme I buy the vouchers at 10% discount. The new kitchen will cost around £8.8k, so that would be about £900 saving.

However, what protection do I have and is it better off to buy the kitchen on credit card for the protection rather than saving the £900 - it's a lot of money!

Any advice really appreciated!

Thanks,
YYT

You would be better off not using wickets. They are over priced and poor quality. How dens, benchmark or magnet trade installed by an independent fitter will get you a better price and a better quality product.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.

    Hi phill99,

Thanks for your advice below. The reason we are likely to go with Wickes is because we have had quotes from B&Q, Wickes and Howdens. Have decided not to go for B&Q, so it's between Wickes and Howdens at the mo and Wickes is coming up top at the moment in terms of Customer Services and price.

We are having an independant fitter installing the kitchen (and he was the one who recommended getting a quote from Howdens).

The price of the kitchen includes units, quartz worktop and 5 burner gas hob, double built under oven and hood. In terms of breaking down the costs Wickes seem reasonably good and they are rated much higher in Which.co.uk than Howdens?

Why in particular do you suggest that Wickes is poor quality?

    Thanks,

  • Im sure if you pay the first £100 on a credit card that will cover the whole purchase.

And make sure Wickes doesn't go bust leaving you holding £'000's of worthless gift vouchers
