Is a Sky Sagem ADSL router worth selling?

Sky sent me one of the new routers, but they managed to mess up their end and stopped it authenticating. Rather than try and resolve the issue they just sent me another one.

My question is whether the original one is worth anything, or should I just bin it.

    Depends if it's firmware locked to your Sky account. Most ISP-supplied routers are the cheapest they can get. I recently put a few on eBay starting at a fiver and got no takers at all.
    It's electrical, so don 't bin it-WEEE it!

    no, they're not...it's not like they can be used with DMT or Routerstats for line tweaking & monitoring, so pretty worthless :(

    @macman:

    Yes - Sky do customized firmware and do lock them.

    So effectively the considerations are : (a) if somebody else acquires it can it be re-used with another Sky account (ie. will Sky re-authenticate it), or (b) can it be re-flashed to a generic firmware (like you can with their Netgear re-badged ones).

    @GunJack:

    Thanks - if so, then it's no use to anybody and it's for the bin!

    Why don't you return it? It won't cost you anything.
    That gum you like is coming back in style.

    Now that's a thought too - better to return it than bin it!

    as Macman says, WEEE it down your local tip. Sky wont do anything with a second hand router.
