that dried meat product that you chew, cant remember its name, comes from South Africa (except this came from the New Forest). OH got a bit carried away and we have loads of it.
and bisuits. I was thinking biscuit base for a banoffee pie but the biggest pudding eater in the family doesnt eat bananas (he isnt fussy really and will actually eat pretty much anything else except them)
So basically any ideas for dried meat and a dessert which uses biscuit crumb base.
Thank you

Biscuit crumbs: cheesecake
Dried meat: it keeps virtually indefinitely in the fridge. Keep it and take it on long car journeys. Much healthier than sweets!"Finish each day And be done with it.

for the biscuits why not try nigella`s malteser traybakes and omg they are so scrummy and really easy to make, heres the ingredients
100g of butter
200g of any chocolate (i used dairy milk as im a bit of a chocoholic )
3 tablespoons of golden syrup
225g (about 3/4 of a pack) of digestive biscuits
225g of maltesers
put the butter/chocolate and golden syrup in a pan and melt slowly meanwhile have your kids batter the living daylights out of the digestives till they are crumbs and then mix both up untill you have coated all the crumbs then pour the mix into a lined baking tray and press it all down firmly and wait for it to cool when there is just the slightest bit of heat left in the mix press the maltesers (or anything else you might have) into the slightly gooey traybake then slice it up with a pizza cutter and slam it in the fridge for the chocolate to set properly. next time i make these im going to double the recipe! dont expect these to hang around for too long as they are delish!!proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance!Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat moneyquote from an american indian.0 -
Biltong ! As npsmama says it will keep for ages. It was originally made for long journeys across South Africa by ther voortrekkers (sp?).0

Thanks for the malteser recipe. I will be popular this weekend.
Thats the stuff, Biltong, but this is too hard to actually cut or chew, and we all have good teeth! I'll persevere.....another happy bug.........sorry,blogger embracing the simple life0 -
If it's too tough to chew (never had that problem myself heehee... just slice it finely
) then you can throw it in a stew

Can you buy biltong in this country? I'd love to try it. I've seen beef jerky in supermarkets, but is this the same thing?Oh dear, here we go again.0

I've just googled it and there are loads of online suppliers. Anyone know of a supermarket or high street seller though?Oh dear, here we go again.0

This lot came from Winchester farmers market. I think its a farm in the New Forest and the guy who does it is either a new zealander.
