Wedding Venues in Kent

Options
Hey All,

Hope im doing this in the right place.
I proposed to my girlfriend of 2 years on monday and she said yes :)
We are now looking at some wedding venues for about 5k in total. Is there any venues that anyone can recommend that we can get for this total?

Well a lot of that depends on how many people you are inviting, whereabouts in Kent you want (it's a big county!), what time of the year and what you want included in that £5k total?

Lots of the lovely venues in Kent are bloody expensive with either hire minimum numbers or high standard hire fees.

This is a good site to get you started, it lists all of the KCC approved venues and register offices (excluding the Medway towns).

There are some lovely venues in kent. The web site above is great.

My colleague is getting married in two weeks time - Winters Barn, Canterbury and I get married at the end of August at Bradbourne House. Both lovely venues.

You will have so much fun planning.:)

Congrats!! There are a few of us Kentish people on here :)

As hadley2 and jtr2803 have said there are lots of lovely ones depending on your guest list!

jtr2803 has sent you in the direction I was going to send you in... that website is great and is really useful for basic info on each venue.

jtr2803 is also right in saying many venues are expensive - we found only one or two in North Kent that came in under 5k.

My H2B and I are getting wed at the Hop Farm in Paddock Wood, but we looked at...

    - Brands Hatch Motorsport (the circuit's hospitality suite)
    - Oakwood House
    - Weald of Kent (VERY reasonable, worth looking at)
    - Bradbourne House (beautiful, but out of our range)
    - Boughton Golf Club, good value for smaller weddings

We also went to weddings at

    - Priestfield Stadium - my cousin got married there, if she hadnt we wouldve gone there - we are massive footie fans)
    - Marriot Tudor Park - good value for money
    - Harty Ferry Inn, lovely views

My friend recently got married at the Mercure Maidstone, which she said was great and reasonable on the money front.

The way we did it was to work out numbers and then go through and cross venues off that either couldnt fit us all in, or needed a higher minimum number.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

We looked at Winters Barn back in 2009 when we were planning our wedding, and it was something like 3k just for hire. I don't think there was a bar and various other essentials would have to be hired in - I don't think that would make a 5k budget.

We got married at Hempstead House, they have some good last minute and mid week deals.

Whatever you do, don't use the venue that advertises 5k deals on the radio. I have heard some real horror stories.

Taadaa, was that a certain venue in Sandwich I have heard a lot about?! I was thinking about going there to view and the stories I heard really put me off!!

Yep! There was a lady on here when we were planning in 09, they took their money, mis-sold the wedding to them then refused to give them their money back, and they had to go to the small claims to get it back. This was money they had received because her finance was seriously injured defending king and country as well!

Have a look on trip advisor, stories of rude staff, not setting up properly, cold food, dirty toilets...the list is endless. How they are still in business is beyond me.

Oooh I remember that one! Did she ever get married in the end. I think they both deserve a medal after what they went through!

PS. Are we not allowed to state the venue name? I noticed everyone has mentioned it but not the actual name!

She got the money back, not sure if they got married but I don't remember hearing they didn't.

Probably best not to actually name them, just in case.

My cousin is getting married at Salmestone grange which may come in around that budget. Looks very nice from the website (although the website isnt as fancy as some) although havent seen it in real life yet.
