Please help me out.
I have a motorbike which has caused me a few slight problems. Firstly the lights and battery failed when I was in a different county, I contacted a local mechanic and he came and dealt with the problem straight away, two weeks later and back in the same county I had further problems with my bike. I took my bike back to the same mechanic and paid cash upfront for repairs, these repairs are as follow: new sanctions and fork seals. The mechanic informed me this would be fixed by the next weekend. It has now been 7 weeks and I still do not have my bike, I have contacted the mechanic on numerous occasions and been over to see him at expense to myself. The first time I went over he said he couldn't get the parts, this was the same the week after. The thrid week he said he was unable to get the parts of the bike, the forth week he was away as hfis girlfriend had taken him on holiday, the next week his wife was leaving and now his daughter his Ill. He continues to give me excuses for not having my bike ready and I have incurred travel costs when going over to pick it up and have also lost earnings from work as a result.
Can someone please advice me on what I could/should about this?
Many thanks

You're subject to the laws and courts of the 'different country', you can take him to court out there, wherever that is. Probably not an easy/convenient job unless you speak the lingo.0

And they are Stantions not Sanctions.

What model bike is it? Replacing fork stantions and seals (plus oil) is not usually a difficult task - especially if you can get a mate to help you.
And why do the stantions need replaced? Are they bent or pitted?0 -
Hi all,
as noted this problem has not occured in a different country it is indeed simply a different county.
the mechanic stated that the forks were pitted and were leaking oil.
the bike is a suzuki intruder 125.
i have been told i have a case under the supply of goods and services act 1982 but am unsure of how i should proceed.
thanks0 -
Pitted forks can indeed shred the oil seals and thus cause leaks.
However it is sometimes possible to polish the stantions to minimise the pitting - at least for a short time (months, not years).
Regarding SOGSA 1982 - I think it really depends on what was requested and what was agreed with the mechanic.0
