Just had this email from my local Crown Carvery (I have deleted the name of my local as I don't want my location to be known)....

If you got married in 1952, drop by The ************** in *******between 4th and 9th June and mark your diamond wedding anniversary year with a delicious roast dinner (or three succulent sausages or a slice of pie) - on us.

Getting your free meal is a doddle
There's no need for bookings or vouchers, but you must bring your wedding certificate and some ID (otherwise we might not believe how old you are...).

Terms & conditions
One free main course each for guests married in 1952
Marriage certificate and ID (e.g. driving licence/passport/birth certificate) in the same name for each diner must be shown
Offer available between 4th and 9th June 2012

Find your nearest Crown Carvery and confirm the offer is running there too. These promotions are usually at all venues.

    OK, there are about 25,000 diamond wedding anniversaries in the UK every year.

    Therefore 50,000 people are able to take up this offer, or 0.08% of the UK population.

    If as many as 1in10 eligible people take up this offer, it will only cost them £20,000.

    I suspect 1in100 may be closer....so £2000

    Actually - offer is on for a week....maybe 1in1000....so £200
