Electric Night Storage Heaters or Not!

First of all - these will not be our main source of heat. We are not connected to gas mains, and do not have an oil tank - so would be an expensive option to install (also may not be in the house for more than a few years ??).
We are on Economy 7 as we have an E7 Aga - which, although outrageously expensive to buy, is fairly economic to run and more or less heats half of the house.(Fischer have tried to persuade me their system is fantastic - but I am worried because we cannot change from E7 or our bills will be massive - they are not night storage heaters).
We also have 2 wood burners that give out lots of heat when up and running.... which is never until later in the day!
The issue is whether to go through the huge expense of installing an oil tank, boiler and central heating, or whether to buy storage heaters as a back up... everything I have read about them seems very negative - does anyone have any good feedback??! Am hoping the modern ones are better than they used to be.
I don't think that having a small amount of heat at night would be a bad idea as it is an old cottage and often very cold first thing in the morning... I am in quite a bit in the day... but I am worried about a) whether it will put people off if we sell and b) the running costs

How much can you buy oil for? There are 10kWh of energy in each litre of oil. Then compare that to the cost of E7 electricity. E7 is just about always cheaper.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

It's not just the cost of oil, it's installing oil tank/boiler/radiators - not to mention the redecoration afterwards

An E7 AGA is just a big storage heater, the downside is you cant turn them off in the summer months, they cost about the same as oil to run but then you get both cooking and heating for the one same price .. .. that's why they are so expensive !
Now as to the alchemist Fischer super-salesmen of 'snake oil' don't even let them near your home, and change your phone number, they are purveyors of nothing but charge an absolute fortune per kWh.
If you need extra heat during the night get it at a very cheap rate, you already have E7 night rate prices, just get yourself a strategically placed panel heater or better still a low output storage heater wired in to your existing system and take advantage of what you already own - cheap overnight electricity.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I'll bet they are """keen to get their engineers out"""
- if you have not signed anything drop them like a hot cinder before you get burned
- if you have signed anything, tell this forum and we will advise, you have a cooling off period anyway
- do not let them talk you into anything and never ever let them into your home
- resist the further home visit they will suggest, and if anyone calls unannounced do not let them over the doorstep
- tell them you are TPS & MPS registered and instruct them never to write to you or call your telephone number again
