Ideas for places to take a Junior Youth Club in Kent and surrounding areas

Hi there

I'm after suggestions please!! I am a volunteer at a Junior Youth Club. We cater for primary school aged children (so 4-11). The youth club only runs because of volunteers, we have no paid staff and receive no funding except for when we bid for (and are sometimes successful) possible grants that different organistations may offer.
We operate in a fairly deprived rural area, we are open once a week for an hr and a hlf and hope that we are doing some good because it means a small amount of time these children are not roaming the streets of the village and are doing something creative with their time.

Anyhow, on to my question!! We have managed to secure some funding for a trip in the summer holidays. The funding should (just) cover coach hire. Now, I'm after some fairly cheap ideas as to places people would recommend we could take them!! Obviously to cover costs to get into somewhere we would need to ask parents to pay something for their child to go depending on the price of where we go!! Bearing in mind the area we are in and the families we deal with we want to keep the cost to the parents as low as possible, whilst giving them plenty of time to pay!!

If you have managed to read this far thank you!! We are hoping to find somewhere suitable for all the ages. We would like something that may provide a bit of a challenge to our older children with a bit of team bonding possibly but a place that also had enough for our younger ones. We looked at Go Ape! but isn't possible for our smallest members!

TIA

How about Diggerland -- every child's dream!!! Good for groups.

although it can be expensive there are often discounts to be had...and some of your kids might get in free on the height criteria! YOu could always call direct and see if they'll do you a deal.
Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!
  • Hey, im originally from Kent so can help you on this ;-) my suggestion would be going to Broadstairs when they have folk week (its free!) its right on the sea front, morris dancers, hippie market, lots of entertainment and a great atmosphere all week! at the start of folk week they usally have a carnival type thing in the evening and on the last day of folk week they have it too. Because its on the sea front you get the beach too so all in all its a good day/week out and FREE too, kids might want a little spending money for chips on the beach, things at the hippie market etc..

Hadn't thought about Diggerland! Can give them a ring and see if they do any group booking deals, thanks!

Have never heard of a folk week in Broadstairs (but I'm not from round here, moved here from Sussex.) Will speak to other volunteers see if they know more about it, thanks!
