alternative to storage heaters??

Can anybody recommend alternatives to night storage heaters for a two bedroom flat? My dad has moved into a flat with these heaters and he isn't finding them easy to use or control. there's no gas at the property so Im not sure of the alternatives. I've only ever had gas heating. any advice on efficient/cost-effective electric heating options would be gratefully received!

Teach him...turn input to maximum and turn the output down to minimum overnight and whenever he isn't in the room. Turn the output up when he is in the room.

If that fails then use convector heaters, oil filled radiators or bar radiators/halogen heaters. They will cost about three times what the E7 heaters cost to run on the same tariff so switch to a standard tariff and they should cost about twice what an E7 storage heater costs to run.
