should i self publish or go via publishers?

anyone with advice. thanks in advance
p.s looked up one self publish company in india and they seem to charge about £575 for 1000 copies.

    I cannot remember ANY details, but believe there is a 'self-publishing' scheme where they print and bind to order: you make the text available and they do the rest ...

    No, no more than what I've already said I'm afraid. I just heard it on Radio 4, quite a while back, not even sure which programme it was.

    It may even work through Amazon: people can order the book and then each copy is printed to order. You would have to google - try 'publishing to order' or 'printing books to order' and see if that gets you anywhere.
