Always call the "If you're calling from abroad" number provided!

Have you ever noticed that some companies / organisations have on 0845number but also state a geographical number with the +44 country code added forwhen calling from abroad?

Simply call the "from abroad" number by removing the +44 andadding a 0 to the start.

Often you will call in this way and a recorded message tells you that as youare calling from the UK you need to redial using the 0845 number! To get aroundthis, redial the same geographical number but add 141 before the 0. This hidesyour UK number from the remote system so it does not know you are in the UK!

A good example if the HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) income tax number.

Their number is 0845 300 0627 but they also provide: +44 135 535 9022 forpeople calling abroad.

I tried 0135 535 9022 and got the recorded message saying I was in the UK soi redialled 1410135 535 9022 and it went straight through to an advisor! :T

Amazing as its free and you get past a LOT of recorded messages saying press1,2,3...99
I thought I'd share this as I was quite pleased with myself when I did it:-)
