 I am currently setting up a new online business and would love your feedback on what sort of things you would like.
My idea is an online shop called 'Domestic Goddess Online' for us woman (or men) where you could go to buy a variety of unusual and quality items.
I have arranged it into sections : Cooking, Cleaning, Gardening and Pampering,
each section will have a selection of things that you can buy that will make life easier for you.
I plan on everything being affordable but the sort of things that you look at and think "oooh I would love one of those"
I know that this is a bit vague at the moment but I am still in the process of setting up my website so I thought I would get some feedback from you helpful lot on here as to what things you would like to see on a website like this if you were visiting it.
Also what do you think of when you hear the words domestic goddess (not nigella though:rotfl: )
P.S. I did post this elsewhere but was then I realised that you guys were probably the best people for advice on this.

I think most people would think of Nigella when hearing domestic goddess?
What sort of things do you mean?0 -
I suppose I'd want things that were made to last, not lots of plastic 'rubbish': things like those ceramic mixing bowls, teflon type cake tins. Things for jam and preserves would probably fit in well.
As for 'Domestic Goddess', yes it does make me think of Nigella, but also those fifties adverts for 'perfect housewives'.0 -
Domestic godess for a name would make me think about a cleaning company!!
The other things old style are really all in Lakeland catalogue old and new!
Similar lines to that then?Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0 -
to me domestic goddness sounds like some sort of kinky fetish thing...

sounds as though you are trying to get back to the
40's 50's iconic style of housewife...stores....but online....
could be worth you selling good ol os cleaning products..soda crystals... lux washing flakes etc.....
or rubber gloves.....and aprons.....:DWork to live= not live to work0 -
I think Nigella's lawyers might have something to say about you using the 'Domestic Goddess' tag.
By all means go with the idea - but I'd change the name if I were you!
good luck!0 -
It made me think of Anthea Turner. I think it sounds great myself! as for what sort of items how about kilner jars, ceramic mixing bowls, Ostrich feather dusters and of course not forgetting...........Stardrops & microfiber cloths
Good luck in your new business0 -
I just googled Domestic Goddess and only one on the first page related to Nigella, so dont think there is a problem there.
I think its a good idea and might get a niche market but be careful not to load yourself up with a lot of stock which want paying for and storing.
Good luck.....another happy bug.........sorry,blogger embracing the simple life0 -
what might help is to use some of the artwork from the 1940s/50s, you'd have to have a good look around (and copyright might be a problem) but if you are very clever you can use it to poke gentle fun at the whole "domestic goddess" ideal of the 50s, in a way that (hopefully) your customers will find humorous, and come back for more.
George Petty would be a good start, but this is the kind of thing i mean: this, this, or this, this. Some of the vintage work is a little more risque than others, but certainly in this day and age, most of its pretty mild.
