First couple holiday!! where to go??

Me and my OH are planning on taking a week/10 days holiday but he's never been on holiday before and it will be our first! :j

I love Portugals' old town and have been a couple of times and would like to go again, but would also like to go somewhere new this year.

Last year I went to Gran Canaria and spent a day in Tenerife to go to Loro Park. I would love to have a holiday there as didn't get to see any of the island.

I'm just looking for some ideas on best places to stay? prices? things to do on the island? water sports available?

We would ideally like to spend a max £400 pp on hotel and flight if possible for September.

A quick search shows this is definitely doable. Is £400 pp your max including meals etc or is spending money on top?

We tend to do searches on a few websites, bookmark the ones we like then search the hotel/resort name on TripAdvisor.co.uk which is usually very reliable to give you an idea of the place. You can also search for things to do on there. If you type Tenerife into the search bar you can see the top things to do, restaurants, and hotels.

Top budget hotels in Tenerife here. You could use that as a starting point (or search for top romantic/trendy hotels use kayak to find cheap flights.

Thanks MandM90, I will check out those sites, £400 is just for flights and hotel. We will have spending money on top of that. Icelolly.com seem to have good deals on.

Any ideas which are the best areas on the island to stay? I know flights from the UK only fly to the south of the airport but we don't mind travelling to the north if there are nicer areas there.

Our first couples holiday was Amadores Beach in Gran Canaria, it was fantastic! Its a tiny, quiet little resort, so perfect for couples peace and quiet, but literally a 5 minute taxi /20-30 minute walk along the cliff to Puerto Rico, so plenty of more lively nightlife etc if thats what you want as well. It was about 4 years ago we went but the place was gorgeous!

Hi Stennent, thanks for your advice, I also love Gran Canaria, I have been 4 times now and always stay in Puerto Rico. the last 2 times I went was with my ex though so would ideally like to go on our first holiday somewhere neither of us have been before.

But next time I go to Gran Canaria I will definitely check out Amadores Beach!
